How Do I Switch My Club’s Payments Account From WePay To Stripe?


We’re excited you’re ready to make the switch from WePay to Stripe! There are a few things to keep in mind when making the switch depending on the events your club is currently offering. Let’s discuss what the transition will look like based on the upcoming events you’re hosting.

If you don’t have any upcoming events at the moment, this is the best time to make the transition. A member of our UTR Support Team will be able to de-active your WePay account and allow you to connect your Stripe account. Once your Stripe account is connected all future payments will be routed to that account whereas all prior payments received for previously hosted events will still be linked to your WePay account. 

If you currently have events that are actively receiving registration payments through WePay and you wish to make the transition to Stripe, we’ll duplicate the current event into a new event page that will be able to receive payments through the Stripe platform. While we can add players that previously registered to the new event page, all of the players that registered for the event previously will have their payments tied to your WePay account whereas all future payments will be tied to your Stripe account. 

Pro Tip: When we duplicate the event it will change the URL link, meaning that if you have any marketing materials that include the event link those materials would need to be updated with the newly duplicated event link.

If you didn’t have a WePay account previously and you would like to connect a Stripe account you can certainly do so! if you don't have any upcoming events you'll be able to successfully connect your Stripe account through your club's payments account page.

If you didn't have a WePay account previously and you have upcoming events we’ll duplicate the current event into a new event page that will be able to receive payments through the Stripe platform. While we can add players that previously registered to the new event page, all of the players that registered for the event previously won’t have their payments associated with your Stripe account and you’ll need to arrange payment on-site for those players’ specific payments.
